The Sanctuary is a vast conservation haven, stretching over 43,900 hectares of land and sea on Mozambique’s San Sebastian Peninsula. Located 20 km southeast of Vilanculos, across the bay, it offers a unique blend of terrestrial and marine ecosystems along the Indian Ocean coast. As part of both the Great Bazaruto Key Biodiversity Area and the Inhambane Seascape Hope Spot, The Sanctuary is renowned for its rich and diverse wildlife. It also serves as the southern gateway to the iconic Bazaruto Archipelago, celebrated for its extraordinary natural beauty.
