They call it barefoot luxury…

but here it’s something more. It’s stepping into a world that still remembers how to breathe. Shed the weight of the world and walk barefoot into a dream. A dream called House Marape.

Perched on the San Sebastian peninsula near Vilankulo, House Marape lies in the Vilankulos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary, rich in biodiversity. Five villas, linked by wooden walkways, offer stunning ocean views. The communal area features open-plan living, a bar, decks, a plunge pool, and dining with fresh local food. Interiors blend East African-inspired design with local craftsmanship and vibrant touches.

  • At House Marape, our staff are proud locals from nearby villages, bringing their rich heritage and culture to every experience. They’ve grown with the lodge, adding warmth and authenticity to all they do.

From the beginning, our mission has been twofold: to create unforgettable guest experiences and uplift the local community. We carefully selected and trained individuals from nearby villages, helping them become skilled in hospitality, guest services, and caring for the lodge’s surroundings.

What makes House Marape special is our team’s deep connection to the land. Many have spent their lives here, and their knowledge and stories enhance every interaction—whether preparing traditional meals, guiding wilderness walks, or welcoming you with a smile.

By choosing House Marape, you join a story of thriving communities and celebrated cultures, where our team proudly preserves and shares their heritage.
